In developing my Major Assignment 3 academic research paper, I drew heavily from earlier classwork such as our source evaluations, rhetorical analysis work, and the practice thesis statements we wrote during homework assignments. These helped me understand how to integrate credible sources and how to build an argument supported by evidence rather than personal opinion. I also applied several course concepts including rhetoric, audience awareness, and research-based argumentation. While writing, I worked toward course outcomes related to locating and evaluating scholarly sources, composing using academic conventions, and presenting an argument that responds to an ongoing conversation in research. All of these guided the choices I made about structure, evidence, and tone.

Throughout the writing process, I struggled most with narrowing my topic and keeping my argument focused. It was challenging to decide which sources were most useful and how to synthesize them in a way that felt unified. I believe I was most successful in revising my analysis to make it clearer and better connected to my thesis. My peers suggested that I clarify my main claim and explain some of my sources more fully. Based on this feedback, I revised several paragraphs for stronger transitions and added explanations that helped show how each source contributed to my argument. Overall, this assignment taught me how to participate in academic conversations, how to revise with a clear purpose, and how to create a research paper that builds meaning through careful organization and evidence.
